Improving Learning Outcomes Using Teams Games Tournaments for Grade 4 Elementary School Students Mathematics Area Measurement

Abstract

The aim of this research is to improve the learning outcomes of class 4B students at SDN 004 Palembang in the mathematics subject area measurement material using the TGT (Teams Games Tournament) type cooperative learning model. The concept in this learning model is that students compete on behalf of their team members with members from other teams who have equal abilities in the academic field based on previous performance (Rokhimah, 2019). This research uses Classroom Action Research (PTK) with interactive data analysis techniques. This interactive data analysis technique includes three main components, namely data reduction, data presentation, and the final stage is drawing conclusions. The research was conducted in April 2024 with the research subjects being class IV B students at SDN 004 Palembang, totaling 31 students consisting of 17 men and 14 women. Data collection techniques used by researchers are questionnaires, tests and through observation. Learning outcomes were 34% in cycle I and increased in cycle II by 74%. Then in cycle I, student learning activity was at 55.36% and experienced an increase of 76.07%. Thus, classically, mathematics learning in broad measurement material is categorized as successful with an increase in student learning outcomes in cycle I and cycle II. The use of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) learning model can be used as an alternative learning model used by teachers to improve learning outcomes and learning activities of students.
